Two names I sold for 15k were dropped, if my memory serves me right in late 08 / early 09 I had registered these domains, they were names I had hand registered and then went onto sell them within a few months of purchasing them.
I sold them to a well known domain investor and I was extremely pleased naturally having turned $15 dollars into $15,000.
The domains were TrustFundManager.com & TrustFundManagers.com, I was checking up on some names I had sold previously and seen the above two domains are now owned by BuyDomains.com, it appears they were dropped and BuyDomains.com picked them up on 21st of February 2012.
It amazes me that the previous owner let them drop, even if he had decided they weren’t for him no more surely the $15 per year would worth paying and trying to flip them even for less than his $15k original purchase price.
What I want to know is what are they worth to you and what would you have done, keep or drop the domains?
Happy Sunday everyone, I might be slow on comment replies today as I’m out today to see a Scottish comedian called Kevin Bridges, if you like comedy check out his website tonight is one of several sold out gigs of his 57 night UK tour and his home gig is Glasgow, So I’m looking forward to a night out and seeing some good comedy.
Kevin doesn’t own the domain KevinBridges.com the owner of that domain had it registered a long time before Kevin made it but he does have his local cctld KevinBridges.co.uk
People drop domains all the time even after they’ve spent a lot of money acquiring them. I’ve never understood, for example, why companies that got domains via UDRP then let them expire almost immediately – and these were $trademark.tld – not a secondary or tertiary keyword
those are good domains maybe it was due to the financial mess that been caused with banks the buyer might been someone working for that industry then found out did not have job. they just let them drop. those domains are worth money so seems silly let them drop.
You should buy it and sell it again – that would be nice!
Fund.com dropped and just expired as well……$10,000,000 worth of money wasted.
I think fund.com is pending renewal it has expired but yet to drop, I believe but I do agree… why?
Some nice domains dropped back in 2008 and 2009 when the economy tanked, I remember picking some gems up myself.
If I may play Devil’s Advocate, why were those two names being auctioned off in Rick’s 2010 auction here: http://www.ricklatona.com/2010/10/19/auction-day-is-here-t-r-a-f-f-i-c-auction-starts-at-400-est/ for $400-$1500 where they didn’t seem to sell.
Makes your $15k a piece seem a bit fishy.
@bob it wasnt 15k a piece that was for both the names together and I still have the emails and transaction details to prove if required.
Those are nice names. I have FundShire.com for sale. If any Brit domainer wants it.
