The 4 Letter Domain Name, – DSPA.com has been hit with a WIPO case from DSPA B.V., Case number D2020-1449.

The company DSPA BV is a Dutch company operating currently on the domain name local CCTLD .NL – DSPA.nl and appears they now want to own the domain name DSPA.com again but have chosen to go via WIPO instead of acquiring the domain name privately, They did own the domain name until 2015 but let it expire so why wait 5 years now to come after the domain name?

Will this WIPO case find a case of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking? I don’t see any wrongdoing on the domain owner if anyone that is at fault it’s DSPA B.V. for not protecting there IP and virtual assets by renewing their domain names for 10 years to ensure they don’t expire.

Using Domain Name Research from WhoisXMLapi.com, I could see that the domain name which is currently under privacy, was once owned by Reversed Media LLC, I am not sure if Bill Paterson of Reversered Media LLC still owns the domain name, Back in 2017 the domain name was owned by Yummy Names, which is a division of Tucows, Looking back at the history of the domain it was once owned by DSPA B.V. but between April 2016 – June 2016 the domain name moved to Yummy Names, The domain was registered at Tucows and I am guessing it expired and Tucows picked it up via there Yummy Names division to resell the domain name and then Reversed Media LLC picked it up via NameJet auction back in 2017.

The domain name DSPA.com has sold twice according to NameBio.com, both times that the domain name was sold was via NameJet, once back in 2009 then 8 years later in 2017 both times the domain name sold for less than $1k.

The domain was registered to Zacco who is an intellectual property consultancy based in the Netherlands from what I can see back 2012, then it changed into the registrant owner DSPA BV in April 2014, we are unsure if DSPA hired Zacco to acquire the domain name for them originally? You can view the Nameserver history later in this post, which looks like it might have acquired the domain possibly in 2010 under a stealth acquisition using Zacco.
